This superb vintage Sencha Fukamushi strikes a perfect balance between power and freshness, with its salty, vegetal, and fruity notes. From the first sip, it delivers an explosion of umami flavors that linger beautifully on the palate.
Fukamushi (deep steamed) Sencha is a tea that has been steamed for several seconds longer. Rolling results in smaller leaves, which have fewer needle-shaped leaves than traditional senchas. It is therefore normal for the leaves to appear a little more "broken." This also results in a green deposit at the bottom of the cup.
The Sencha Fukamushi brewing process produces a tea that releases a lot of flavor very quickly during brewing. Therefore, it requires a shorter brewing time. It produces a dark green, opaque cup.
Our 2024 vintage comes from Kagoshima Prefecture in southwest Japan, and is made from Saemidori tea plants.
